SGT Thunderhoof has become one of my favourite bands…..ever. And if I was held at gun point and asked which was my favourite albums from them, it would be this one, Ride of the Hoof. I listen to ST a lot but my go-to album is this one. If I’m not careful, I don’t give the other ST albums a fair go and that would just be depriving me of the greatness of all their other awesome tunes. With only a limited number of hours in the day, this posses quiet a conundrum. Harry Harrison
A terrifically woozy slab of psychedelic stoner rock, where big riffs grind against saxophones, omnichords, and more. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 17, 2018

People hear various influences in this bands sound. It seems to me their biggest influence is Andrew Wood/Mother Love Bone. The vocals certainly are a nod to Andy's stylings and there are references in the lyrics too.
Anyhow, this is a great album and I'm not aware of anyone else (tho' I'm sure there is someone) who is covering this territory.
It's sleazy and swaggering mixed with a stoner heaviness and I keep coming back to it.
A Nice album cover doesn't hurt too! Crinklechips
